HELOISE AGOSTINELLI: LIFE LESSONS AND HEALTH SESSIONS

State of Mind is back with a brand new episode this week with the amazingly beautiful and funny Heloise Agostinelli. Ell is half French, half American and was born into a family with serious fashion heritage. She says she always knew that she would grow up to be somewhat “public” in her life, and this is certainly true now that she’s a well known face dating an even more well known one. Ell tells us how this new relationship has helped her relax around food and let go of some of the hang ups she used to have surrounding her eating habits.

This is also probably the funniest episode yet as Ell and I, for reasons I still can’t fathom, break out into some comic accents at the end! Apart from it being a real hoot, Ell has some astoundingly poignant and important insights to share for someone of such a tender young age (I’m starting to feel mine now, can you tell?!) We cover a lot of ground on health and nutrition but also relationships, love, loss and life goals.

Ell tells us about how careful she is regarding the public persona that she now has, and how she takes care never to publish diet related posts to her page as she knows how damaging they can be for young girls. She tells about how when she was younger she was so obsessed with Selena Gomez that when she read an interview in which Selena said she loved dipping crisps into ice cream; it was the only thing she ate for ages!

One thing I really admire about Ell is her self control, she eats only 3 meals a day and doesn’t snack! That is serious #lifegoals for someone like me who is always at the tub of almond butter with a spoon. Her approach to food is incredibly balanced now, and she’s happy and comfortable in her own skin. She tells us how sometimes her food choices still seem alien to her French family, who happily exist on a diet of baguettes and cheese. They’ve got a lot to say about the fact that she’s dairy free but her reasoning makes total sense, and after all, nutrition is specific to us all as individuals which is something we often forget these days.

This episode was actually my pilot episode that I recorded back in the summer,  but it was so good I had to release it! I hadn’t developed my format yet and so didn’t get the chance to ask Ell what STATE OF MIND meant to her. However, I did ask her retrospectively and this is what she had to say:

What's one thing in life you'd do again if you could?

I'd go back to Tulum. I went there after a bad break up and it literally healed me. I had lots of energy massages which left me feeling light and centred again. As a spiritual experience it was amazing.

What's one thing you'd change if you could?

Not a lot of people know this but I lost my brother when he was 16 and I was about 9 or 10 years old. I feel lucky now to have a guardian angel watching over me, but of course, if I could change what happened I would.

What does STATE OF MIND mean to you?

It means having the right morals and feeling content and happy with the here and now.
